Laughter, excitement, and the spirit of Christmas filled the air as nearly 50 guests gathered for The Yutzy School’s First Annual Christmas Program on December 20, 2024. From heartwarming performances to hands-on science demonstrations, the evening was a perfect blend of festive cheer and student creativity. Families, friends, and community members came together to celebrate the accomplishments of the school’s inaugural semester, experiencing firsthand the energy and enthusiasm of its students.
The program opened with a warm welcome by TYS student Gloria Yutzy, followed by an invocation from classmate Micah Yutzy, setting the tone for an evening centered on faith, learning, and celebration. Throughout the event, students took the lead in sharing their projects and talents, highlighting the creativity and dedication fostered within the school.
The event continued with Student Demonstrations, where attendees witnessed the ingenuity of Yutzy School students firsthand. From crystals and hydraulic lifts to closed circuits, coin spinners, money bottles, and disc launchers, students showcased their hands-on science projects with enthusiasm. Guests were then invited to interact with these student-made creations, getting a chance to launch a disc, spin a coin, and even test out a mini-hydraulic lift.
The highlight of the evening was the Christmas Presentation, celebrating the season’s true meaning through a shadow play reenactment of the Nativity. Student-led narration, choreographing, set design, and costumes were on full display, showcasing the school’s student-centered approach to learning and creativity.

Following brief remarks by Head of School, Dr. Ric Mitchell, and Board President, Daniel Yutzy, the program concluded with a prayer—but the festivities continued! Guests gathered to enjoy refreshments, graciously provided by Faye Yutzy, Katie Schmucker, Mattie Miller, Ruby Schumcker, and Regina Yoder. A special Yutzy School Highlight Video played on the big screen, giving guests a glimpse into the school’s first semester and the strong sense of community it has already built.

After the main program, guests were invited to step into the world of hands-on discovery, experiencing several science projects that Yutzy School students had built throughout the semester. Excitement buzzed as attendees launched discs through the air, spun coins at high speeds, and tested the mechanics of a mini-hydraulic lift. Among the favorites were the disc launcher, which sent lightweight discs soaring as participants aimed for a target, and the mini-hydraulic lift, where guests could manipulate the small yet powerful system to raise and lower objects with ease. These interactive displays not only showcased the students' creativity and problem-solving skills but also brought learning to life in a fun and engaging way for all ages.

A special feature of the evening was the Christmas Chain, a meaningful classroom project displayed on the balcony railing. Each link in the chain represented a day of at-home personal or family Bible study, serving as a beautiful reminder of the students' spiritual commitment.
The First-Ever Yutzy School Christmas Program was truly a success, bringing together students, families, and community members in a night filled with learning, fellowship, and celebration. Beyond the performances and projects, the event reflected the school’s mission to inspire curiosity, creativity, and character in every student. We are grateful to everyone who attended and supported this memorable event, and we look forward to many more in the years to come!
Merry Christmas from The Yutzy School Family!
